In February 2025, by decree of Fr. W. Pawlik SAC, the St. John Paul II and Blessed Carlo Acutis Pediatric Hospice was established in Medellín – the first home-based children’s hospice in Colombia. It operates from the Pallottine house in Bello, formerly an orphanage, now once again serving the most vulnerable. The project is led by Fr. Mariusz Mąka SAC with a team of volunteers and the ongoing support of the SAC Mission Secretariat.
During the first anniversary (8–11 February 2026), meetings and the First International ZAK Congress gathered over 120 participants. A particularly meaningful moment was the donation of a car from the Polish-Scottish community in Edinburgh, enabling the hospice team to reach sick children in their homes.
The hospice provides free psychological, spiritual, and social support to families facing incurable childhood illnesses and accompanies parents in bereavement. Among the patients is 11-year-old Natalia with a brain tumor, whose family relies heavily on this support.
The work now enters a phase of structural development and professional formation, rooted in the Pallottine charism. We thank all benefactors and ask for continued support of this missionary work of mercy.
